You’ve heard it before, you’re either a salesperson, or you’re not. But what if I told you that anyone could sell anything with just a few quick tips.
Get Them Excited
You may think that selling is all about you, but it’s not. It’s about the client. Most times, they want to buy your product; they just need a little push. That is why you need to prove to them that you’re as excited about the product as they should be. Really, for lack of a better term, sell it to them. Get them pumped up about all of the benefits, the quality, the price, why they need it, and why they should buy it from you.
Fake It Until You Make It
You may not be the most confident salesperson, but you need to fake it. Show them confidence with a firm handshake and a big smile. Know your product, and learn to speak confidently about it. Do your research and learn about who you’re meeting. The more you research, the more confident you will be about the transaction.
Say Their Name
This is an easy little tip. Say their name. Refer to them as a friend instead of as a client. You can start in the introduction. When they introduce themselves, repeat their name back to them. Then use it a few times in your pitch.
Know Your Buyer
Instead of reaching out to as many potential clients as possible, know your target market and aim for them. You want a few qualified buyers, rather than a lot of unqualified leads. Look at your product and ask yourself who would want to buy it. Choose a client with the funds and the need for your service.
Ask Questions
Another way to make the transaction about the buyer is to ask questions. Find out about them. What are their interests? What do they do in their free time? Do they have children and a family? All of these personal questions prove that you recognize that a buyer is a person and that the transaction is not just about money.
These tips will take practice, but if you follow them, you’re on your way to making those big sales.
